26. Heading Home Happy.
My backpack felt really heavy as I lifted it from the floor of the train as the Elizabeth Line train pulled up at Terminal 2&3 at Heathrow Airport, London. The previous morning I had said goodbye to my UK family and took the train from Derby station to London. What I Carried! To get from St Pancras to Edgeware Station on the underground, just a few stops, I decided to try the cardless scan using my debit card. When I checked later, I had been charged £14 for the quick journey. Ouch! The NZ dollar wasn’t buying much pound sterling these days so I was glad my travels were coming to an end. Expensive! I spent the rest of the day walking around the city centre, visiting places that sparked happy memories, and not spending another penny, except for a cheap lunch.
